Tour of Huangshan

THE RACE

The Tour of Huangshan is one of the biggest UCI 2.1 races on the Asian calendar. In September 2026 it ran 18–20 September over three stages in the Yellow Mountain region of Anhui, China — a start list of 18 Continental and Pro Continental teams including Burgos-BH, Euskaltel-Euskadi, Li Ning Star, Roojai Insurance Winspace and Terengganu.

JPC came with a six-rider squad built around the young riders: Dimas Nur Fadhil Rizqi leading in the U23 and Asian riders classifications, backed by Haritz, Dendra, Dealton, Ilham and Andrean. It is the highest UCI category the team has raced in 2026, and the plan was simple: stay in front, keep the flag on the road, learn.

By Sunday the answer was on the sheet. Dimas finished 3rd in the Asian Riders Classification — a podium at UCI 2.1, level on time with the classification winner — and 25th overall in a general classification headed by Mudgway, Tamm and Cavia Sanz. The team closed 5th in the Asian Team Classification, with a 4th on the final stage nine seconds off the win. Two results on the board from a squad that lost a rider a day.

Wenfeng → Huangshan District

120 km, 45.7 km/h average, 101 starters. Cavia Sanz (Burgos-BH) took the opener from a big front group, with Mudgway (Li Ning Star) and Rasch (China Anta) completing the podium. Two Cat-2 climbs but the bunch held together — this was a fast day, not a selective one.

Dimas made the front group and stayed there, 29th on the day at the same time as the winner. That put him 4th Asian rider and 7th U23 after one stage. Dealton and Ilham came home with the second group at +13:50.

Dendra and Andrean rode the grupetto. Haritz did not finish — the team was down to five for the rest of the week.

Huangshan → Yixian

The hardest day of the race. 101 km with a Cat-1 climb at 650 m midway, and the bunch came apart on it. Lauri Tamm (China Anta) won from a reduced front group ahead of Rikunov and Muñoz Gabiña — only 88 riders made the time cut from 94 starters.

Dimas went over the Cat-1 with the front group and took 23rd, same time as the winner. Riding a UCI 2.1 mountain stage with Burgos-BH and Euskaltel and finishing in the front selection is the single best ride of his week. It moved him to 3rd in the Asian Riders Classification.

Ilham held on for 73rd, Dealton 82nd at +12:20, Dendra 88th. Andrean did not finish — four riders left for the final day.

Tunxi Circuit

140 km of circuit racing at 49.3 km/h — the fastest stage of the race. Ten laps of Tunxi District, flat, and the bunch stayed together to a mass sprint. Luke Mudgway (Li Ning Star) took the stage and with it the overall victory, one second ahead of Tamm.

JPC's best team day of the week. All three counters finished in the bunch — Dimas 28th, Ilham 34th, Dealton 70th, all on the winner's time — putting the team 4th in the Stage 3 Asian Team Classification, nine seconds off Camp Cycling Team, and sealing 5th overall in the Asian Team Classification. After a week as the smallest operation in an 18-team field, the last day was the one where the numbers landed.

Dendra did not finish, leaving three at the line.
